Native checkout

Your checkout, doing what it already does well.

When you publish a course or exam, Chapters creates a real Shopify product behind it. That means everything you already rely on at checkout keeps working — no separate cart, no payment integration to wire up.

  • Your discounts and gift cards apply to courses just like physical products.
  • Multiple currencies and payment providers work out of the box — buyers pay the way they expect.
  • Shopify handles checkout and PCI — card data never touches a third-party course platform.

Instant auto-enrollment

Paid means in.

The moment an order is paid, the buyer is enrolled and can start learning. No manual fulfillment, no "your access is on the way."

Access on payment

Enrollment fires as soon as the order is paid. Guest checkout works too — access is matched to the buyer's email, so they don't need an account first.

Orders auto-fulfill

Course orders mark themselves Complete instead of sitting in an unfulfilled, "awaiting shipping" state — your order list stays clean and accurate.

Refunds soft-revoke

Refund an order and access is removed automatically — but the student's progress is preserved, so a re-purchase picks up right where they left off.

Seat caps & time limits

Cap how many seats a course can sell, and set time-limited access per course — perfect for cohorts, limited intakes, or subscriptions that expire.

Four theme blocks

Drop them anywhere. No code.

Add the blocks to your theme in the editor and place them where you want. They render nothing on non-course products, so they're safe to add theme-wide.

Course catalog

A grid of your courses on any page — a homepage section, a dedicated catalog page, wherever you want browsing to start.

Course details

Curriculum and outcomes laid out right on the product page — and it tidies the buy box too, hiding the quantity stepper and "Buy it now" on course products so the page sells a course, not a physical product.

Enrolled

Continue lesson →

Course access card

On the product page, "Buy" turns into "Continue" the moment a student is enrolled — one button that knows where they stand.

MY COURSES

My Courses button

A header button that takes students straight to everything they're enrolled in — the front door to their learning.

Because the blocks stay invisible on products that aren't courses, you can add them once and leave them in place — they only show up where there's a course to display.

Google-ready, automatically. Every course page carries schema.org Course structured data — title, description, provider, and (once you have reviews) star ratings — so your courses are eligible for rich results in search. Nothing to install or configure.

Checkout & order extensions

A thank-you that sends them to class.

Selling something digital shouldn't end on a page that talks about shipping. Chapters adds course-aware extensions to the post-purchase moments where buyers are most ready to start.

  • A course-specific thank-you experience confirms enrollment and points buyers straight at their first lesson.
  • An order-page CTA takes buyers right to their course instead of leaving them on shipping language.

One-time setup. The thank-you experience is switched on once in Shopify's checkout editor — a couple of clicks. The order-page card needs no setup at all: it appears on course orders automatically.

My Learning

Their Shopify account becomes a student dashboard.

Chapters adds a native My Learning page inside the Shopify customer account — the same place as their orders and profile. No separate login, no external site: their store account is their school account.

  • Continue where they left off — a hero card with the current course, live progress, and a one-tap resume.
  • To-dos and live classes — pending quizzes and assignments with scores, plus upcoming sessions, right on the dashboard.
  • Make the menu read like a school — put My Learning first and rename "Orders" to "Purchases" in Shopify's menu editor. The setup guide shows both.

To-do

Themed vs focus

Native when it should be, focused when it counts.

Browsing and managing courses should feel like part of your store. Watching a lesson or sitting an exam should feel like nothing else exists.

Themed mode

Course & dashboard pages, inside your theme

Catalog, details, and the student dashboard can render with your header, footer, and domain — so they feel native to your store. In-theme rendering is opt-in.

Focus mode

The player and exam hall, distraction-free

When a student opens a lesson or starts an exam, the interface switches to a clean, focused view — no store chrome competing for attention while they learn.

Make it yours

Your colors, your logo, your name on everything.

Set your brand once and it flows through the whole student experience — the portal they learn in and the emails they receive. A live preview shows your changes as you make them.

  • Primary and accent colors — pick any color with the wheel or paste your exact hex.
  • Your logo and portal name sit at the top of the student experience.
  • Your branding flows into the lifecycle emails students receive, not just the portal.
  • Text contrast adjusts automatically so your colors stay readable, whatever you choose.

Branding is a shop-level toggle. Pair it with branded lifecycle emails for a consistent voice end to end.

Add to Home Screen

An app on the home screen

A real app — without the App Store.

Students can install the portal as a Progressive Web App, right from their browser. It lands on their home screen, opens in its own window, and feels like an app — on both Android and iOS.

  • Installable on Android and iOS straight from the browser.
  • Carries your branding, so the icon and portal feel like your school's app.
